About RickRunGood
RickRunGood is a data-first golf analytics site, built since 2015 to give anyone a deeper understanding of the game: why golfers score the way they do, where they gain and lose shots, and who fits a course. That same data makes it a go-to resource for fantasy golf, one-and-done pools, DFS and betting. Every tool runs on one database of tournament results, round scores and shot-level data from the PGA TOUR, DP World Tour, LIV Golf, the Korn Ferry Tour and more.
Coverage: 8 tours, 10,506 tournaments, 3,506,008 rounds and 57,690,371 shots.
Who is behind it
RickRunGood is run by Rick Gehman, and has been since 2015. You may know his golf analysis from CBS Sports, PGA TOUR Live, ESPN+, Golf Digest and a variety of other outlets, as well as the RickRunGood YouTube channel.
Over a decade on, the goal is the same: put the numbers behind golf in front of anyone who wants them, explained plainly enough to use.

How we measure golf
Strokes gained: total is a golfer's score against the average score of the field that round, on that course. A player who shoots 68 on a day the field averages 71 gained 3 strokes. It is the fairest single number for comparing rounds across courses, weather and fields.
Strokes gained by category splits that total into the parts of the game: driving, approach shots, play around the green and putting. It shows how a golfer gains or loses shots, not just how many.
Course Horses ranks this week's field by strokes gained per round at the course, with a minimum number of rounds so a single good week cannot top the list. By The Numbers picks out the week's strongest storylines from the same data: defending champions, players with great course history, and who arrives in form.
The models run on the same numbers. The Tournament Predictor is a simulator that plays out each week's field thousands of times to estimate win, top-10 and made-cut chances; Power Rankings and Trends weigh recent strokes gained; the Custom Model lets you set the weights yourself.
Where the data comes from
Results, round scores, tee times and shot-level data come from the tours' own official feeds, collected every day by RickRunGood's own data pipeline and checked before they reach a page. History goes back years on every tour we cover, so a golfer's record at a course or in an event is there in full.
The tools
- Golfer Profiles: One page per golfer: career arc, every tournament result with a round-by-round drill-down, strokes-gained splits, majors, course history and field percentiles.
- Power Rankings: Rank every golfer by recent strokes gained across any tours and window, raw or field-weighted, filtered to this week's DraftKings slate.
- Tournament Predictor: A simulator that plays out this week's field thousands of times: win, top-N, make-cut and first-round-leader odds, expected prize money, and where the model disagrees with the betting market.
- Cheat Sheet: Everything for one DraftKings slate on one screen: salary, projected ownership, tee times, strokes gained across every window, recent form and event history.
- Custom Model: Weigh the stats you believe in, score every golfer in this week's field from 0 to 100, and turn those scores into salary-capped DraftKings lineups.
- Course Key Stats: What makes a course play the way it plays: past winners, comparable venues, hole-by-hole scoring, the skills that correlate with finishing high, and who fits this week.
- Holy Grail: A full-database explorer: slice every tracked round by tour, year, course and conditions, roll it into a player table, and drop into round-by-round logs.
- H2H Matchups: Head-to-head golf matchups simulated on strokes-gained distributions: single-round and tournament win and tie probabilities for two to five golfers.
- Trends: Golfer form measured as recent strokes gained against each player's own baseline: who is playing above or below their norm right now.
- Radar: Trackman launch-monitor data and ShotLink shot analytics side by side, as a tour-wide leaderboard for driving, approach and putting.
- Showdown Cheat Sheet: A live in-tournament leaderboard pairing each golfer's position and round score with strokes-gained columns, tinted by who is beating the field.
